Picture Frames

I love decorating picture frames! It adds a little extra flare to some otherwise dull frames. I ALWAYS get them cheap, whether on a Goodwill Hunting adventure, a yard sale, or hand-me-downs.

Here is just ONE simple idea to easily transform a plain frame.

For this make-over, I used some decorative stones (usually used to fill a vase or fish bowl type thing)

some handy dandy tacky craft glue

some times I glue in a pattern...sometimes I just randomly put em on there...

your design...your rules

add some shells if thats your thing...

Be sure to let the glue dry before setting up right...

Vision Board

Often times, a project or business concept gets derailed or we lose our motivation to move forward. Once a month, or so, I meet up with a group of women, thru which we help each other with our endeavors so that we stay on track and focused. This also gives fresh perspectives and throws in some fresh ideas or innovations to give our projects that spark we have been missing. Last months meeting, we were introduced ( at least I was) to vision boards.

According to SelfGrowth.com, "a vision board is a simple yet powerful visualization tool that activates the universal law of attraction to begin manifesting your dreams into reality. The concept of the vision board (also known as a goal board, goal map, or treasure map) has been around for generations, but it’s gained a renewed interest and popularity after success expert John Assaraf related his story of using vision boards to achieve his dreams in the best-selling DVD documentary The Secret.[1]

WHAT'S A VISION BOARD?
A vision board is simply a visual representation or collage of the things that you want to have, be, or do in your life. It consists of a poster or foam board with cut-out pictures, drawings and/or writing on it of the things that you want in your life or the things that you want to become. The purpose of a vision board is to activate the law of attraction to begin to pull things from your external environment that will enable you to realize your dream. By selecting pictures and writing that charges your emotions with feelings of passion, you will begin to manifest those things into your life."

Needless to say, this vision board (or should I say action board) has been very effective and helpful for me. It motivates and inspires me to get off my ass and be productive.

Scrabble Wall Art

This is one of my FAVORITE projects EVER. It's cheap, adds some fun to our daily lives and makes for excellent gift ideas!

What you will need:
Canvas: Pick a size. I went with 18"x24" because it is what i had. I used an old flopped painting canvas from the garage, but you can use a scrap of plywood, cardboard, or anything sturdy yet lightweight enough to sit in the frame.
Frame: I really dig old frames. I pick them up at yard sales and Goodwills all the time for dirt cheap. Just so happened to have an 18x24 laying around.
Scrabble: If you dont own the game, go to the Goodwill and find one for a buck or two. Brand new the game is around $15. yikes.
Magnetic Paint: $20 for a quart sized can at Home Depot or Lowes. Pricy I know, but one can CAN be used for many projects.
Magnet Strip: Roll of crafty magnet found out WallyMart or Michaels.
Scissors
Glue Adhesive: I used super glue but im sure hot glue or elmers would be just fine.

Step 1: Mix the magnetic paint VERY well. This paint separates and the bottom, magnetic portion, can be super thick and hard to stir. If your paint seems watery as you paint, its not stirred enough as the coating should not be transparent. Let dry and repeat. I tested magnetic strength with a kitchen magnet. If it holds you are good to go. If not, re-coat. When dry, decorate/paint however you like. Board will remain magnetic thru other coats of paint.

Step 2: Cut magnetic roll/strip into Scrabble piece sized squares. The sticky backs are not strong enough to stay stuck to the wood, so I used super glue.

Step 3: When everything is dry, assemble and have fun!
